Sergio Torres Torres is an artist who has been living and working in Los Angeles since receiving his MFA from UCLA in 2000.
His work interrogates an antagonistic, internalized dialectic expressed through the astronaut—the heroic, productive explorer—and the alien—the illegal, parasitic impostor. The alien is the scapegoat upon whom the sins of the astronaut are heaped; whose desire to colonize is to be feared; and yet who also must be colonized.
